Retired U.S. diplomat David K. Wessel will be reading from his new novel, "Choosing Sides", and speaking on the subject of ‘Ordinary Germans’ and how they dealt with the rising tyranny of Hitler's takeover of their country. Wessel’s book tells the story of his father and grandparents, an ordinary family caught in the maelstrom of Nazi Germany, and the choices they faced. David K. Wessel relies not only on his family story, but 50 years of studying how the Weimar Republic shaped the lives of ‘Ordinary Germans’. He majored in history (Rutgers University) with a focus on Germany between the wars. Wessel is a member of the American Historical Association, Association for Diplomatic Studies and Training, Historical Novel Writers Association, National Council for History Education, and New Hampshire Writers Project. This program will be held in the library auditorium on Thursday, April 11 at 6pm. No sign-up is required, books will be available for purchase and signing.
