It’s autumn in New Hampshire, that means time to pull out the flannels, grab your sense of adventure and get lost in a corn maze. As a treasured tradition in the state, farmers all across the state go all out when it comes to these intricate labyrinths. So, what do you say? Corral the crew and head to one of this year’s uniquely designed mazes.
Beans & Greens Farm, Gilford
This multi-acre corn maze consists of miles of twists, turns, loops, dead ends, open squares, and bridges too. Explore the maze during the day, or for those looking to put a spooky twist on this seasonal activity, try the haunted experience on weekend nights. The maze is open starting in late-September through Halloween, weather permitting.
Beech Hill Farm, Hopkinton
Visitors to Beech Hill Farm will enjoy two award winning mazes this autumn. This year’ themes are the “A-Mazing Aloha State,” and “Museum Mix-Up Maze.” One of the maze activities is a crossword puzzle with answers hidden on signs in the maze. The second activity requires guests to figure out which item is missing by finding all but one. Solve the activities and find your way out of the maze! Fun fact: the corn mazes are harvested at the end of the season and the corn feeds their cattle all winter long! The mazes are open August 1 through October 31.
Collins Farm, Bath
Guests will be a-maze-d at this year’s design at Collins Farm which features a Native American theme. Use a map to search for 6 checkpoints, 5 trivia questions and 1 sign. You’ll also find educational signs and historical facts about Native Americans scattered throughout the maze. Be sure to take a picture next to the checkpoints for a chance to win a cash prize. The maze opens in mid-August with a foam dance party and flashlight maze. The end of the season the farm hosts 6 nights of haunted flashlight mazes with animatronics and live actors! Open August 17 – November 2.
Coppal House Farm, Lee
Coppal House Farm is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their corn maze with the moose! This 5-acre professionally designed and cut maze is full of twists and turns and moose trivia questions! Answer correctly to help find your way through. Special events including Fall Harvest Weekend are scheduled throughout the season, and new this year is an event called Tipsy Trails in collaboration with Seacoast Eat Local and Throwback Brewery. For a spooky experience, check out their flashlight nights. Opening day is Saturday September 7th through November 2nd.
Moulton Farm, Meredith
A patriotic theme is represented in the maze growing in Moulton Farm’s fields this autumn: a flag and an eagle. Combining the stars and stripes with the eagle and its wings was no easy feat for the Farm’s maze designer, who’s designed the corn maze for the past 17 years. Now the challenge will be for visitors to find their way around. Something new in the maze this year is a scavenger hunt. The maze opens Saturday, September 21st and will be open daily starting at 8 AM through October 31st.
Sherman Farm, East Conway
Pack up the car and drive to Sherman Farm to explore their maze that highlights driving. This year’s effort will help raise funds for the local organization “Are We There Yet?” Included in the labyrinth of stalks that include is an outline of a car. Solve cornundrums (aka corny riddles), a farm scene investigation and a scavenger hunt as you wander through. Columbus Day Weekend will feature magic shows, balloon art and ax throwing. The maze is open weekends September 21st through October 27th.
