Newport Winter Carnival, Newport

Every February, the small town of Newport transforms into a winter wonderland for its annual Winter Carnival! This year’s theme, Wild West Winter Fest, promises a range of exciting events, including horse-drawn wagon rides, ice sculpting demonstrations, a winter carnival pageant, and a midnight skating and dance party. The festivities begin with a lively winter parade and the ceremonial torch lighting. Now in its 109th year, Newport's Winter Carnival is the oldest continuously running winter celebration in the country, proudly upholding its mission of honoring community spirit and the beauty of the winter season.

World Championship Sled Dog Derby, Laconia

Get ready for an exciting weekend at the World Championship Sled Dog Derby in Laconia. This three-day event, often called the "Greatest Show on Snow" draws competitors from all over the U.S. and Canada. Whether you're a long-time fan or a first-time spectator, there’s something for everyone: meet the mushers and their teams at the staging area before the races begin. Once the races start find a spot along the trails that offer plenty of places to cheer on the teams as they race through the snow-covered landscape. Mt Washington Valley Chocolate Festival, North Conway

This annual event is the ultimate opportunity to indulge in chocolate—guilt-free! Known as the Sweetest Day on the Trails, it attracts chocolate lovers from across the region, many of whom return year after year. Participants can cross-country ski, snowshoe, or even drive along the 45KM network of trails that wind through the Mt. Washington Valley. Along the way, they’ll enjoy breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality, and a delightful assortment of chocolates and sweet treats offered by local businesses.
