GIFF Screenplay Submission

The Glendale International Film Festival invites filmmakers and screenwriters from all around the world to submit your projects to our 10th anniversary edition! GIFF is a dynamic celebration of storytelling and the cinematic arts, spotlighting independent films and the talents of thousands of local-to-global creative artists on the big screen. From the golden hour Opening Night Party to feting the best of the fest on Awards Night, the fun-filled event is centered around building connections and collaboration among filmmakers, audiences, and the community.

The six-day festival will take place in person from Thursday, September 26 - Tuesday, October 1, 2024 in Glendale, CA (Los Angeles County) and will feature screenings, special programs, Q&As, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with fellow industry professionals. 

GIFF also features a student competition for student film and screenplay submissions. New Hampshire students are eligible for a 30% discount opportunity. The discount can be redeemed by entering the code STUDENT30GIFF24 at the FilmFreeway link below.

Roy W. Dean Grant for Summer 2024

The Roy W. Dean Grant for filmmakers is now accepting applications for its Summer Grant. Awarded to a unique film that makes a contribution to society, the winner will receive $3,500 and thousands more in film services to help them complete their project.  Deadline for submissions is June 30, 2024.

Now entering its fourth decade, the Roy W. Dean Grants fund independent feature films, documentaries, web series, and short films with budgets of $500,000 or less that are unique and make a contribution to society that, without its help, might otherwise never get made. Winners of the Roy W. Dean Film Grants receive a cash award as well as goods and discounted services offered by film industry companies and professionals who care about getting good films produced.

Every Filmmaker That Applies Can Get Help on Their Project

Since its inception, the Roy W. Dean Film Grant has offered something for applicants that is itself unique for a grant.  Every filmmaker that applies for the grant has the opportunity to receive a 15-minute consultation on their submission.  Filmmakers can get advice on how to find funding, build up a database of donors or investors, market their film, and more.

Moving Image Fund

The Moving Image Fund was founded in 2001 to provide funding and support for New England-based independent documentary film makers and video artists through all phases of production. The fund also provides career development support for filmmakers to help build a sustainable and strong community for independent artists in New England.

Eligibility:

  • Projects must be long format; 40 minutes or longer
  • Primary creative personnel (director and/or producer) must reside in New England
  • Projects with directors or producers enrolled in high school, undergraduate or master’s degree programs at the time of application are ineligible for consideration
  • Multi-channel or installation work will not be considered
  • LEF no longer requires you to have a confirmed fiscal sponsor at the time that you submit a letter of inquiry or application
  • For prior grantees, a final report on previous LEF grant funding is required
