Discover New Hampshire history.
If you’re imagining an immersion into history as the stuffy textbook jargon from classrooms past, you’ve never been to New Hampshire’s historical sites! Experience history right where it happened, and explore coastal fortifications where the American Revolution “unofficially” began. Climb aboard the Navy’s first modern submarine, the USS Albacore, or tour the boyhood home of America’s 14th president. (We’ll let it slide if you can’t name him off the top of your head.) Be sure to catch an exciting reenactment while you’re here, put on by one of the state’s volunteer-driven groups who help preserve New Hampshire’s heritage. While you’re exploring, keep an eye out for the green signs on roadsides, indicating significant landmarks. You can view a complete list of historical highway markers here.
