Your summer road trip itinerary for the White Mountains region.
Spectacular mountain scenery meets mountain town charm on a summer road trip through New Hampshire’s western White Mountains. Ready to hit the road to adventure? Here are some stops you won't want to miss:
While in the region, spend some time exploring the charm of the mountain towns of Littleton and Bethlehem.
Littleton is a vibrant town with a lively art scene and boutique shops like Pentimento which is filled with candles, jewelry, stationery, and other unique treasures. Hungry? Be sure to stop by Beal House Inn for classic American tavern fare, and a must-do when you come to town is a stop at Chutter’s to satisfy your sweet tooth at the longest candy counter in the world.
Hidden Gem: Walk Main Street and sit a spell at one of the colorfully decorated pianos! No experience necessary to belt out a tune.
Right next door to Littleton, you’ll find Bethlehem. This quaint village has a summer calendar full of festivals, outdoor concerts, live performances, plus great shops and restaurants too. The historic Colonial Theater, a landmark on Main Street is one of the oldest continuously operating movie theaters in the US and also offers a variety of live performances. Shop local while you’re in town at WREN’s Local Works Marketplace and discover the works of more than 75 local artists. For a sample of local flavor head to Rek’lis Brewing where craft beer and comfort food highlight the menu and if you time it right some live music too.
Hidden Gem: Cap off your visit with a couple of scoops from Super Secret Ice Cream: tiny batch ice cream made with all local and seasonal ingredients to create the perfect summertime treat.
