Tamworth Swift River Regatta
Overview
The Arts Council of Tamworth is pleased to host the 2025 Tamworth Swift River Regatta on Saturday, May 31. This wooden toy boat race will be held on Saturday, May 31st along the Swift River in Tamworth Village.
Kids of all ages and their families are invited to join in the friendly competition that’s a great spectator event. Competitors will customize and decorate a 9” pine wooden model sailboat and compete for cash and other prizes in the Swift River course that passes through the center of town. The boats, built in Tamworth by Swift River Wood Products, are available for advance purchase here online or at the Tamworth Farmer’s Market on May 17 and 24. Only 50 boats will be available.
The prizes will be $100 for first place, $50 for second place, $25 for third place, and a prize for the best-decorated boat!
Competitors will want to get their boats early as they’re all invited to a free Paint Your Boat workshop on May 18 from 1-3pm at Runnells Hall in Chocorua hosted by the Arts Council.
Note: Boats will NOT be shipped. You can pick your boat up at the Farmer’s Market in Tamworth on May 17 or 24, or at Runnells Hall in Chocorua on May 18 from 1-3pm.
Event Schedule May 31
9:00-11:15am: Boat Registration at the Tamworth Farmer’s Market. Competitors will “surrender” their boats to the Race commodore.
11:30am: Event volunteers will transfer the boats to the starting line. (Sorry, no competitors allowed.)
Noon: Release of the boats! Great viewing from the bridge and behind the Tamworth Bakery and Tamworth Distillery.
12:30pm (approximate): Race finishes. Prizes given out. Boats will be returned to owners after all prizes have been given out.
